Feeding Animals

So, as noted in the comments to the post titled Approach With Caution, I facebook friended the former adoption agency director and promptly defriended him.

I had to go with my gut and trust my instincts. Our conversations, his choice of words and such did not sit well with me at all.

This is not the first time this has happened to me with this individual. A few years back he contacted me after I found him online at his new agency in IL. He wrote me back, gave me the same lines, made offers to help and then POOF disappeared as fast as they close birth records.

I spoke with a few other Easter House moms and adoptees who were also in contact with him and they confirmed the odd behavior as they had experienced it too with him.

Time to trust ourselves.

As Liz so aptly noted, it is time to stop feeding the animals.

    “Time to trust ourselves.”

Such a small sentence. Seems like it would be so simple…

Susie – I could (and should) write an entire post about this, how I started to trust myself (still a work in progress, obvs). Its a topic that is pretty dear to my heart — this distrust of self that adoption places in our souls. Very toxic in certain circumstances.

LOL, glad to see you didn’t get bitten by the animals.

Trusting oneself……what a novel idea, and how empowering. I like it! This is a big part of my journey too, Suz.
