OT: Going Off the Rails

"America, this is our moment. This is our time. Our time to turn the page of the policies of the past."  – Barack Obama

With the excitement of the elections underway I cannot focus very well. My thoughts and words are scattered and running amuck.

I am hoping, praying (and I dont pray, you might recall), and doing a little dance that it is indeed a Barack landslide. Gosh, how I wish I was in Chicago today.

I was just chuckling over a comment from a coworker who was noting the reaction in financial markets worldwide to our elections.

"I guess this Bush guy was responsible for more than we thought, eh?" he says.

Indeed, my friend, indeed.

Equally if not more amusing is the exchange with my son this a.m.

How can you tell if you are wearing too much eyeliner?  Have your eleven year old son say to you as you walk out the door to the car "Hey, Mom, you look like Ozzy today. You have Ozzy eyes." As you then laugh, then ponder if you should check your makeup, decide against doing so but listen to same son sing the lyrics to "Crazy Train" as you drive him to school.

As he sings them, obviously slightly mocking you but in good fun, realize that some of those lyrics seem to be rather appropriate for today.

"Crazy, but thats how it goes
Millions of people living as foes
Maybe its not to late
To learn how to love
And forget how to hate"

10 Thoughts.

  1. Cool Suz,
I was so excited I went first thing this morning to vote. I took my 4 yr old son along and he could barely contain himself. The ladies let him feed my ballot into the machine and gave him an “I Voted” sticker.
When we got outside he said “Woo Hoo mom, now Obama is President!”
Just a few more hours baby I reminded.
No matter what I know he will never forget today.

  2. GO OBAMA!!!!!!!
My son voted for the first time today! He wasn’t nearly as excited as I was for him! LOL

  3. Obama did it!!!! We did it!!!! Good riddance to Bush and his buddies; I have not felt this hopeful in years. It is a bright new day:-)

  4. Just wait a year or so and see where we are then! My 4 year old niece voted at preschool on Monday…she voted for Obama. Her teacher asked her why, and her reply…with all seriousness…”My dad told my mom that if Obama wins we will have to move to Mexico…I want to go to Mexico!”
I pray…and pray is all that I can do! God Bless McCain!

  5. God bless McCain indeed.
With his age, what he and his party have done to the US the past eight years, he needs all the help he can get. If his god or anyone’s God can help him, I hope they do.

  6. Deb – I am not going to wait a year. I am going to continue to act NOW under the leadership of Obama. What I liked about him (one of the many things) is that he motivated me to act and do and gave me hope and got me, and many others, out there. I wont wait at all. I will start today and be part of the solution versus waiting for him to make it happen.
For me, personally, I follow the words of JFK – I ask not what my country can do for me but what I can do for my country.
I am not waiting or praying. I am doing. I have hope that I havent had a long time.
    Yes we can.
