Abrazo?

"Compassion alone stands apart from the continuous traffic between good and evil proceeding within us.” – Eric Hoffer

I got a ton of traffic from the Abrazo Adoption Agency message forum.

Whats the interest? MTV on the prowl for "expectant birthmothers" or something else?

I tried to join their forum just so I could see what was generating all the traffic but you have to register and be approved. I did register although I dont intend to be a member. I just wanted to see whatever was driving me traffic. I am nosy like that.

The only thing I know of Abrazo is their involvement in the Adoptee Rights/BN drama. I am not quaiflied to comment on any of it and so I wont. What little knowledge I have comes from reading the discord in various blogs.

So, what is the scoop? Why are adoption agency people reading me? A mother who thinks adoption should always be a last resort and even then it should be kindship care or guardianship?

Hmmmm?

8 Thoughts.

  1. I also try to find out what is going on in forums when one is sending me a lot of traffic. When I don’t want to try to get in just putting up a post welcoming the visitors and asking them about why the site was recommended to them usually works.

  2. Very interesting Suz. Some adoption agencies, and I’m not going to single out Abrazo here, are trying to position themselves within the adoptee rights movement as the “good guys” for marketing purposes. No doubt this is happening on your side of the movement, too. I haven’t read the Abrazo forum so I don’t know what’s up over there. Please keep us informed! And thanks for the heads up! BTW, for some good analysis of the invasion read Baby Love Child.

  3. I’m not sure I understand any of what is going on here, in fact I’m pretty sure I don’t, but it seems to me that “they” are very aware of our voices and the impact these voices could have on girls/women who are making decisions about their children.
Thank God for the internet. It says a lot that they are fearful of anything that will persuade mothers to keep their own babies.
When all the commenting was going on about the prospective adoptive mother and the unhappy adoptive mother, I thought it was very interesting that suddenly here were all these people that clearly read the blog but are silent or at least had been silent during the time I’ve been reading it.

  4. Adoption agency interest would scare the shit out of me if I were blogging – I mean “they” never cared about us when we were losing our children. There seems to be a lot of shifting interest these days. It may be in part to cover their asses, but I believe it is with the larger intent of getting more “product” for their clients. Call me cynical.

  5. Abrazo is one vicious Agency…my wife and I adopted through them and, by the grace of God and a strong support group, escaped with our child after they did their best to get our baby back. Just a nightmare.

  6. I think I can clear up the mystery…
You wrote a beautiful piece called “Giving Up Wishes,” about the pain of having to give up fantasy and allow reality to take its course, when reunions don’t necessarily result in desired reconnections, and I posted a link in hopes that it would lend comfort to adoptive parents and firstmoms within our community who may be experiencing similar challenges.
Thank you for your insight and your wisdom, as shared online. May your daughter one day come to embrace it, as well!

  8. Ha!
BabyLoveChild, to me, defines invasion in a different way than I think “marley” was trying to imply.
Cute marley trying to direct everyone to BLC’s exploitation and lies about the protest. Good one.
