The Rocky Road to Dublin

“Wherever you go and whatever you do, May the luck of the Irish be there with you”

Out of all the horror that has been my adoption experience, I can say that there have been a few positive aspects.

One of those, or many of those are the people I have met along the way. My ehbabes family, blogging friends, professionals, writers, Mr. Dink, other mothers and oh so many adoptees.

One of these wonderful creatures lives in Ireland.  On the eve of St. Patrick’s Day, it seems only fitting that I purchase tickets to visit this friend in Dublin. And so I have.  I leave middle of April and will be on the Emerald Isle for just under a week.

I would never have met this person had I not been torched by adoption.  I first "met" her many years ago in  an online adoption community.  While I would have preferred that neither one of us had been traumatized by the loss of our mother or child and therefore never  met, since we have been, I am thankful that she is here with me on my recovery journey. I am equally thankful she is my friend.

Sláinte!

Off I go to listen to Flogging Molly.

2 Thoughts.

  1. How cool! I have always wanted to go to Ireland. You are going to have SUCH a good time!!!
    Yeaaa!!!!!
Check out the Celtic video I posted. It (hauntingly) reminded me so much of our adoption experience.
    (((Suz)))

  2. I love Ireland – you’ll have a great time there. The coastline is pretty spectacular and unspoilt.
The Guinness tastes better there too!
(I hear it’s the water that makes the difference).
    Have a great time.
