Dear Facebook

Listen Facebook, as much as I may want to, I cannot send her a friend request, mkay? Please stop suggesting I do so. (Is there a way to turn off those suggestions?). I am assuming that you pull that information from my email list for I think, at one time, I did that find buddies thingamajingy and permitted you to scan my gmail address book.  I further assume it was at this time you, Facebook, made the connection between my daughter and I.  You keep scanning that list and keep popping up her name as someone I should add. If I could, I would. But I can’t, so I wont. Can you help a girl out here? Must you stick a dagger in my heart every time I visit you?

My belief is that your suggested friend algorithm is based on email lists and friends of friends list. Whatever it is, could you please change it? Or give me the power to change it? Perhaps its there in some security feature and I over looked it?

Sick joke is over. Really. Just stop.  It is not funny or encouraging. It saddens me daily.

(On a more serious note, does anyone know if this can be turned off or changed? I haven’t found it yet.)

Wow, that must hurt. I think you can hit a little X beside the person’s picture and it will go away forever. I’ve been getting some startling suggestions lately, don’t know if the algorithm has changed or what.

Thorn – I have clicked that little X many times. She keeps coming back on my suggested friend list (whereas others dont). Its very unnerving.

That’s really weird! I just checked the unhelpful Facebook Help and that’s the only option they suggest. Sorry it doesn’t work for you.

Right after reading your post I actually came across a consumerist story about this…

    Here is the link:
    http://consumerist.com/5301425/facebook-where-are-you-getting-these-crazy-friend-suggestions-from

Here is a link to Facebook that should remove contacts imported using the friend finder.

I’m not sure if this will solve the whole problem, but I hope this helps you!

its annoying to me on a general level–I can’t imagine what it must feel like for you in this situation. Hope Christina’s link worked!

That has to be incredibly annoying – I hope the suggestion above did the trick. Thank you, Christina, for the tips, which I’m going to use, too.

ahh… thats the exact situation I am. As much as I want to add her, I can’t. And everytime I log on, I see her face and get sad. Suz or Margie, inform if that thing worked, please.
