It gets you when and where you least expect it.
Tonight, just a few minutes ago in fact, I was beginning to develop a new piece for work. It is a multimedia slide show. I could be all old school and develop it in PowerPoint and take forever to animate and do transitions and such. I could also (I am hoping) use an on-line site to upload the photos, do some edits, and download it in the form I want. I have had subscriptions to nearly every photo, slide show, multimedia site possible. I don't have time for a flash piece. I need something quick.
So, I go digging up the old sites, wondering what exactly is the one I had in mind. I couldn't remember the name of the one I used to create a photo greeting card montage last year for Christmas.
So, I pop on over to Slide.com and realize I forgot my password. I execute a request to have them send me the password to reset.
I pop over to the old email address and after logging in am taken to a list of messages from my daughter. Momentarily startled, I ponder reading a few of the messages from nearly four years ago and quickly decide against it. Don't feel like going THERE tonight. I get my password reset and pop back on over to slide.com.
I log in and BAM. There she is again. Two years ago (the last time I used this site) I created a montage of the photos of her she had sent me.
Well, helloooooo there, beautiful.
I am taken back a second time.
She has changed so much in only two years. Like me, she colors her hair like there is no tomorrow. We would both be very good friends with Clementine. (Clementine is my hero and a star in one of my favorite movies of all time. If only I could have blue hair. Somehow I suspect the insurance and financial industry execs I work with would not go for that).
I watch the video. I close it out.
And off I go to my project. Before I start I pop in my latest favorite song by 5FdP. Yup, that's right, Five Finger Death Punch. Also on the rotation list is Godsmack, Staind, Days of the New, Avenged Sevenfold, H.I.M, Finger Eleven and more.
Angry music blaring in the background and I smile.
She is still as beautiful as ever.
