- "How simple a thing it seems to me that to know ourselves as we are, we must know our mothers’ names. " – Alice Walker
ritehersblock is a friend of mine. She surrendered her son to a Kurtz agency. She will meet him again this weekend. He found her. I wish them both much success in rekindling the fire left cold (but not extinguished as the mother child bond can never be) by the laws of man.
Her blog is painful, moving, profound and much more. It must be read. It reads like poetry to me.
Below is her most recent post or you can read her entire blog.
"Is that what I was, what I am?
The baby-making machine
My role was to make a child
For people, nowhere near me, to love
And when my work was done
Thanked for my efforts and dismissed
In my heart , he is my son
In theirs, I was simply his smith"
