Pleasure is spread through the earth
In stray gifts to be claimed by whoever shall find. ~William Wordsworth, 1806
Amazing to me how the sweetest, kindest, most unexpected thoughts can just make your day.
This week I received a lovely email from my daughter. Warmed my heart. Made me smile and chuckle. She’s neat. I wrote her back quickly to thank her for the note (feedback is SO critical!) and commented on a few of her statements.
She had written to thank me for some gifts I sent her. Small stuff, mainly books, paper stuff, a belated holiday card, pictures of her brothers. I had collected it since, gosh, last June but could not mail it to her until she was back at school.
Today I mailed her a Valentines Day card with some silly things inside. Again, nothing huge. Just the thought. A funny card, a silly story. I smiled as I dropped it into the mailbox.
After I dropped her letter, I picked up my own mail and was so surprised to see a little gift there for me, from a fellow blogger.
I have never met this lovely lady, an amom, but she sent me a GIFT! I won’t mention who she is. She might not want to be mentioned but I will tell you I started crying when I opened it and read her note to me. I am blessed to have her as a friend and look forward to meeting her this spring.
It’s an adoption book, from my Amazon wish list. How very sweet. I cannot wait to get home to read it tonight.
I drove to work and pondered how interesting it is that adoption damaged me yet adoption is helping me. At least in the sense that people I have met who are also affected, knowledgeable, are the ones that help me the most. Some odd twist of fate or something, no?
I don’t know where I would be without my understanding friends both here in blogland and IRL. I think it’s awesome that you got a gift and know you are loved! xoxo
Suz, I’m going away for a few days but I’ve been wanting to email you, just don’t know how. I’ll look Monday if you can tell me.
OXOXOXOXOOOOOO
J – I sent you an email from my work address and provided my persona. So funny cuz I had been wanting to email you as well.
That is great news to hear that you got a nice email from your daughter.
